Wojtecki wins in a landslide
Thursday November 8, 2007
With just shy of 70% of the vote, Councilman Joseph Wojtecki was reelected last night to another four-year term as First Ward Councilman. He received 492 of the 708 votes cast for First Ward Council, or 69.94 percent.
Wojtecki’s percentage of the vote was the highest of any council candidate in Hawthorne this year, and higher than any candidate achieved in the last municipal elections in 2005.
“I live in Ward One, where registered Republicans outnumber registered Dems 2-1,” said Hawthorne voter Joe Osborne. “Wojtecki’s popularity clearly transcends party. If an election is a report card, clearly Joe is at the top of his class!”
Congratulations Joe!
Although the Democratic candidates in the other Wards did not prevail this year, we saw some bright spots to build on in the future. Heading toward the next municipal elections in 2009, the Hawthorne Democrats are looking as strong as ever.
