Meet Our Democratic Candidates
Nadia Jass, 3rd Ward Council Candidate
Nadia Jass is running for the 3rd Ward Council seat. A prominent local businesswoman, she is the proprietor of Hawthorne Coffee Company.
Nadia wants to put her business experience to work for Hawthorne. She has been co-owner of The Hawthorne Coffee Company since 1995, and previously co-owned three gas stations in the North Jersey area.
She opposes the development of 19 acres of land on the Hawthorne/Wyckoff border where 258 apartment units are to be built. “I am concerned about the impact this project is going to have on Hawthorne’s environment, as well as the congestion it will create along Goffle Hill Road and surrounding streets,” Nadia said. “This area is also one of the last undeveloped areas of Hawthorne and we need to preserve it.”
Additionally, she supports sharing services with other towns to keep taxes low, and wants to see borough ordinances enforced to improve our property values.
Nadia resides at 102 Horizon Terrace. She is a 1978 graduate of Ramapo College of New Jersey, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. She is an active member of the Hawthorne Democratic Unit and the John A. Girgenti Civic Association. She is also a member of the Executive Board of the Circassian Benevolent Association and the Arab-American Anti-Discrimination Committee
